Your Move and Car Free Friday
Your Move is a school initiative supported by the P&C.
Poynter Primary is a Your Move School committed to encouraging our students to use bikes, scooters, walking and public transport to get to and from school safely. The program aims to create healthier kids, reduce pollution from vehicles and the number of cars around school making it safer to travel actively. The P&C wishes to encourage active travel to school by participating in Your Move and grants are available towards new infrastructure and events, plus rewards for sharing stories. While we recognise it’s not possible for all parents to use active modes all the time, we promote Car Free Friday every week for those parents that can and live nearby.
Did you know from our parent survey over 95% of parents that responded live within 1-2km from school and yet from the hands up survey in class only 22% of students walk or ride to school? We want to encourage more parents to walk and ride to school which will make our kids healthier, our air cleaner, and our school community safer.
